Concert: November 10, 2017: Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY

Kris is doing a gig at the University of Eastern Kentucky near Lexington, KY. Anything that comes out of it, I'll add to this post.

So far all we've mostly got are IG stories posted by Cale. I guess that's the story, Cale is using his IG!
Updated 11/11/2017: Just a photo and a twitter video, but I'll keep looking.

College Showcase: October 26, 2017: NACA Mid-America Conference, Covington, KY

 College Showcase
NACA Mid-America Conference
Covington, KY (Cincinnati area)
October 26, 2017
7:45 PM Eastern

Another new school year, another college showcase for Kris. He's been a regular at these conventions which showcase possible performers for college student entertainment planning groups. It's paid off in a lot of college gigs for Kris, and hopefully those college gigs have led some of the students in the audiences to check out his music.

Sadly this is all the media we have from this event. Photo by @KarliClausen

Poster for Kris Allen/Matt Giraud at State Theatre October 19 8:30 PM

Concert
October 19, 2017
State Theatre
Kalamazoo, MI
8:30 PM EDT

Opening act: Matt Giraud

Wow, a Kratt concert! (Matt Giraud was Kris' good friend in American Idol season 8 days and is a hometown Kalamazoo boy.)  This should be a fun show for those who go. Matt seems excited and is taking requests.

And it's a total bargain - $10 or only $3.50 if you are a Western Michigan University student. Maybe bring them some Taco Bell as requested in the video above. I do know of one regular video-taker who is going. ;)

Updated 11/2/2017: Yes, we did indeed get a White Chocolate reunion! Videos (more just added!), setlist, photos all after the break! Updated 11/2 to add a great review.

College Show: October 6, 2017: Vanderbilt University, Nashville

It was no Goo Goo Dolls play the historic lawn of a historic university's bicentennial (although how I wish Kris would copy the Goo Goo Dolls who regularly stream their live performances on Facebook), but Kris played Vanderbilt University's homecoming weekend last night.

No advance publicity, so sorry for the late post. Whatever media I find will be posted after the jump.

Somethin' About Christmas Tour by Kris Allen!

Kris has announced the Somethin' About Christmas tour! Mostly east coast and small venues. Should be fun! The tickets go on sale Friday, September 8. I'll keep this post updated with any news and of course we will have show posts for these shows.

College Show: September 9, 2017: University of Delaware, Newark, DE

Concert (Open to public)
University of Delaware
Newark, DE
Doors open 8:30 PM EDT
September 9, 2017

Kris has another college show, only this college (the University of Delaware) is awesome and opened it up to the general public! So if he busts out another new cover, as he is prone to do at college shows and concerts in smaller cities, we should actually get video this time thanks to our friends Ang and Kira.

Will post set list, media etc here after the show. In the meantime, thoughts and prayers with everyone in Florida right now and this weekend. Hurricane Irma is serious business and I hope everyone from there will be safe.

Updated 9/10/2017: Sorry for delay in updating. Connectivity issues on my end. Heard it was a great show with a new cover of Niall Horan's Slow Hands (mashed-up with Waves) and a new interesting arrangement on Loves Me Not. Videos and photos after the jump.

College Show: August 19, 2017: Augustana College, Rock Island, IL

Welcome Week Concert
Augustana College, Lower Quad
Rock Island, IL
8 PM Central (Kris on at 9 PM after a DJ opener)

Kris has a college show scheduled at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois (near the border with Iowa). I think it is intended to be a student event, but don't have firm info on whether the general public can go. Anything we get (and there's normally not much with college shows) will go in this post.

Updated 8/21/2017: Turned out to be a great show, and we got the premiere of a cover of Oasis' Wonderwall (an audience request from a student and a long-desired cover for me). Partial set list and mini-videos inside. Many thanks to @SnapCracklyPop for preserving Kris' instastories for us.

Appearance: August 17, 2017: American Idol Auditions, Lake Buena Vista, FL

American Idol Auditions
Disney Springs
Lake Buena Vista, FL
August 17, 2017

Kris is joining fellow winners Jordin Sparks (Season 6, 2006) and Ruben Studdard (Season 2, 2002) at an open audition for ABC's reboot of American Idol, taking place on Thursday, August 17, at the Disney Springs portion of Walt Disney World in Florida. If you are interested in auditioning, you need to pre-register and follow the directions here.

Parking is going to open at 4 AM and Disney Springs' venue can hold up to 4000 people. Sounds like they are expecting a full crowd (click that link for specific event information)! For those of you who are just going to check it out, I'm not sure if you will be able to observe auditions or not from that link. Disney Springs' entry itself is free; it's a really big open air shopping and dining center. Click here for information on visiting Disney Springs.

Kris is participating in a charity benefit (free but donations encouraged) in a northern Detroit suburb to benefit two local foundations. As of now the forecast looks good, but they did book Kris!

Updated 8/14/2017: Looks like a great night for a show, and already enthusiastic tweets and some video! Full set list too (changed up from last night). Team Kris finally revealed the name of the bassist who's been subbing for Torres. Whatever else we get, I'll put after the jump!

Concert: August 4, 2017: Musicians Corner Acoustic Friday Night, Nashville, TN

Musicians Corner presents: Acoustic Friday Night

Lineup starts 5:00 PM CDT
Kris is on at 7:50 PM CDT

Kris is doing another free gig for Musicians Corner. The last one sadly got canceled due to a forecast tropical storm that petered out. Let's hope the forecast works out this time!

Updated 8/5/2017: A rainy day turned into a mild and dry night, perfect for a summer concert under the moon. Have the set list. Kris premiered a new mashup for Monster with Childish Gambino's Redbone. Don't think we will get video - although check out IG stories posted last night by Muscornernash and teamkrisallen (remember, those go poof and disappear after 24 hours). You need to view those on your phone using the IG app. I do have a few photos. Whatever we get will be after the jump.

Charity Show: July 26, 2017: Musicians Corner Presents a Tribute to Paul Simon's Graceland, Nashville, TN

Musicians Corner presents: A Tribute to Paul Simon's Graceland
July 26, 2017
Nashville, TN
Doors 6 PM; Show 8 PM CDT

Preview:
Kris joins musician friends such as Tony Lucca (with whom he co-wrote Never in a Million Years) and Marie Miller (who opened for him on west coast leg of last year's Letting You In tour), for this charity gig in Nashville to benefit Musicians Corner. The theme is a salute to Paul Simon's landmark album Graceland. Kris has participated in similar charity benefit tributes in past years, and we were lucky to have most of them livestreamed and/or video'ed - rare for Nashville shows!  We also got some really great performances from them. Hopefully the same will be true this time. Tickets are still available, so if you are in Nashville, go support them!

Updated 8/1/2017: We are in luck as our friend Annie was there and did get video (which has been added to the post). Kris did three songs - one solo, one duet and one group number at the end. Details, videos and photos in the post after the break! Thank you Annie!

Concert: July 3, 2017: Bettendorf, IA

July 3, 2017
Bettendorf, IA
North side of the Middle School!
9 PM Central

Preview:
Kris is partying for the Fourth of July on the third of July in the city of Bettendorf, Iowa. This is one of the Quad Cities and on the border of Iowa/northern Illinois.

Updated 7/4/2017: What a great set list Bettendorf got, including a premiere cover! And the return of American Girl, which apparently KAB only plays in cities that don't do media. Hopefully some videos will pop up but for now we have some photos and a full set list after the break.

CANCELED: Concert: Musicians Corner, June 23, 2017, Nashville, TN

Acoustic Friday Night
Musicians Corner
June 23, 2017
Centennial Park
Nashville, TN
Canceled due to bad weather

Preview:
Kris is joining some other artists for a live acoustic concert in Nashville this Friday night. Hopefully Tropical Storm Cindy's remnants won't soak everyone! It sounds fun, as Kris is bringing his friend Melinda Doolittle and others to join him for some special songs they've worked up for his set. Sounds like it could be full band too (based on the people he tagged in his IG post). Stay dry Nashville!

(Admin note: Sorry I've been so silent! A real-life work project and some personal traveling has kept me pretty busy.)

Update: Show has been canceled due to weather (Tropical Storm Cindy's remnants). Kris plans to attend a concert the next day in the same location (but he won't be performing).

Kris is on a month-long acoustic tour with his good friends in the pop rock band Parachute. Parachute, who is fantastic about fan service, is letting their fans vote on their set list. Kris has keyboardist Andrew St. Marie in tow and he is sharing a bus with Parachute. The venues are smaller than either act filled last tour (apparently they are favorite venues of Parachute's), and so far the crowds have been lively and showing up early to line up. I've got Kris' expected set list in the post; Will post what I can find for Parachute's set list after the show (since it's changing each time).

The tour concludes on Thursday night when Parachute and Kris return to their current home base of Nashville for one last sold out show. Information for this specific show can be found after the break!

Updated 4/28/2017: Found a ton of good photos, some videos, set lists. All of it is after the break...

The tour continues Tuesday night in Carrboro, NC, near Raleigh. Kris did a fantastic show here during the Letting You In tour and the NC fans were awesome about sharing video. Information for this specific show can be found after the break! If you are going tonight, pay attention to local media; my news says that there are some flooding issues in that area today due to all the annoying rain in the mid-Atlantic we're having.

Updated 8/6/2017: Lots of photos but only LLWD videos. The show was packed and so hopefully some more will turn up! What I have found is after the break. Set list confirmed.

The tour continues Sunday night in Charlottesville, VA at a historic venue on the lovely Downtown Mall. I notice the show is sponsored by an excellent local radio station, 106.1 the Corner, who did a fantastic interview with Kris the last time he played C-ville and they told me that they are trying to do an interview related to this show on this Sunday afternoon around 4 pm. Plus Charlottesville is Parachute's hometown, so hoping that the crowd will be extra into this show.

This is the show I'm going to! So for once I will not need set list help. ;P I'm bringing one of my best friends who is not in Kris fandom; curious what she will think. She's into EDM and punk and this will be her first WGWG concert. Have to say she did seem a little reassured about what she's gotten into after she watched a Facebook video of Will from Parachute crowd-surfing. ;P We always have a blast when we go out anyway. (She says she'll help with typical show-sharing duties since acoustic WGWGs don't lend themselves to pogoing.) Plus it's a girlfriend getaway to one of our favorite towns, so we are really looking forward to this! From my years living here, April is definitely the time to visit Charlottesville! Of course, with Kris' visiting, the deluge of rain is forecasted - hoping it won't slow us down too much!

So yes, the excitement is real. Information for this specific show can be found after the break!

Updated 4/28/2017: Finally recovered enough from what was a really fun show to update the post! Full video stream link for Kris' set, set lists for both acts and some IG videos inside, plus my review. Updated 4/28 to add the interview/songs Kris performed for 106.1 the Corner!

Be aware that this particular venue is not near public transportation and parking might be tough. I'd use Lyft, Uber or take a cab. Kris is on a month-long acoustic tour with his good friends in the pop rock band Parachute. Parachute, who is fantastic about fan service, is letting their fans vote on their set list. See the Dallas post for what we know so far of Kris'  set list. Kris has keyboardist Andrew St. Marie in tow and he is sharing a bus with Parachute. The venues are smaller than either act filled last tour (apparently they are favorite venues of Parachute's). So expect a smaller, lower-key experience, but I am hoping for some great collaborations as Kris' poppier stuff is very similar to what Parachute does.

The tour continues Tuesday night in Phoenix, Arizona. Information for this specific show can be found after the break!

Updated 4/14/2017: A BIG THANK YOU to the fans in Phoenix for getting a full set list and set of videos, plus some nice photos! Personally, I am hoping Kris will flesh that set list out a little more for future shows. Only 8 songs (including EOTS), with two covers and not much LYI material. I'd like to see him focus on originals with such limited time available to best showcase himself to Parachute fans. So far they've been really appreciative of him in their live tweets but I think they'd be very open to his original material. (Updated 4/14 to add new IG video of LLWD.)

Kris begins a month-long acoustic tour with his good friends in the pop rock band Parachute today. We don't know much about Kris' set, but Parachute, who is fantastic about fan service, is letting their fans vote on their set list. I have heard that Kris will only have one, possibly two band members in tow and he is sharing a bus with Parachute. The venues are smaller than either act filled last tour (apparently they are favorite venues of Parachute's). So expect a smaller, lower-key experience, but I am hoping for some great collaborations as Kris' poppier stuff is very similar to what Parachute does.

The tour begins Sunday, April 2, in Dallas, Texas. Information for this specific show can be found after the break!
Updated 4/4/2017: From tweets and IG posts, seems as though the casual fans in attendance enjoyed. We do have some partial set list information and some IG videos.

Introducing ... The Dames!

Kris, Cale and Torres, along with their friend Jordan Wright, have begun a fun new side project they are calling The Dames. On Thursday, February 23, the Dames debuted their original music, along with two fantastic classic rock covers, in a StageIt show and chat. During the chat, Cale mentioned that they are working on getting the music available for sale. The guys were much cagier when asked why they are calling themselves the Dames, saying "That's classified."

After hearing the new songs, I'd describe The Dames' music as 70s California rock meets Zac Brown Band and Dawes, with a tinge of The Traveling Wilburys and The New Basement Tapes. A lot of people in the chat room heard The Eagles as an influence. So basically adult alternative/classic rock/touch of the tropics and a bit of country music, i.e., the music I love to listen to the most! I love this new direction for the guys and they seemed happy with it too. While Kris does sing some lead, the other three guys do as well. The harmonies among the four are fantastic.

So glad they have shared this new music. To keep up with The Dames, check out their website and follow their Instagram.

Here's the list of songs they performed on Stage It and my take on them. (For the originals, this is my best guess at what they are calling it).

Set List, StageIt, February 23, 2017:

  1. Death of Mr. Jones - PREMIERE This is the song you hear on the band's website (linked below) and Kris' IG. To me it sounds like Dawes meets Cher singing Dark Lady. I liked the acoustic harmonies in the StageIt. Kris takes the lead vocal on this one.
  2. Blue Bloods - PREMIERE Some interesting harmonies on this song. Torres is lead singer on this.
  3. Against the Wind (cover - Bob Seger) - PREMIERE Pretty straightforward cover of this classic rock song, with Jordan singing lead.
  4. Don't Mess Around with Me  - PREMIERE If you don't know what Dawes sounds like, now you do. If Kris was their lead singer. (Check out Dawes too by the way, they are a favorite band of mine and of Cale's, so unsurprisingly, this was my favorite song of the Dames.)
  5. All That I Want is You  - PREMIERE Torres sings lead on this very pretty ballad with beautiful harmonies
  6. Alright With You  - PREMIERE This is a fun song, very Traveling Wilburys meet Zac Brown Band, with Cale singing lead.
  7. Hungry Heart (cover - Bruce Springsteen)  - PREMIERE Loved this. They brought a Hawaiian flair to it! Kris singing lead.

Kris plays a Saturday night one-off in a Las Vegas casino. Am interested to see if this will be full band or not. The venue has been tweeting a lot about it.

Updated 4/3/2017: Kris fans came through with two streams and a lot of video! Bodes well for the Getaway Tour. It was full band and the line up and set list were basically the same as the Letting You In tour. The few change-ups included an acoustic Waves solo and the return of the EWTRTW/TWYMMF mash-up (see inside for what that stands for). After seeing the media from this show, I'm sad that the Getaway Tour will not be full-band. Don't miss In Time for beautiful harmonies.
